Italian restaurants, sub shops, calzone counters and Italian delis sit next to the pizzerias on this site because most of them bake pizza too, often from the same dough. Full-service Italian restaurants take reservations for dinner, add a tip line for table service (15-20% is customary) and usually run a cheaper lunch menu on weekdays. Sub and sandwich shops are counter-order and quick, with sizes by the inch or in half and whole lengths. Calzones and strombolis are priced like a medium pizza and are large enough to share. Italian delis and bakeries sell by weight and by the piece, and many close mid-afternoon.

Columbus is in Ohio, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Columbus follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I was lucky enough to catch this place while going through my instagram reels. I'm constantly on an adventure to find great Columbus Italian Food. I'm glad this one came onto my radar. Tucked into a side street Highland Ave, near goodale park; this place made me feel like I was in Naples Italy. The building is small, probably only a couple tables on the inside, but the back patio has plenty of seats and a great vibe. Apartment building on the one side that makes you feel like you are in a big city, string lights, and exposed brick makes me feel like I'm in Naples. My wife and I got the Bronzino and the Eggplant Lasagna. The bronzino was good, moist and tender and the broth and vegetables added good flavor. Now for me that eggplant lasagna was the star of the show. A decent portion with a side of pasta. The eggplant was amazing; crispy on the outside, and tender in the center and plenty of cheese. All of the pasta was cooked slightly el-dente, so if you enjoy more authentic pasta than this place is for you. Drinks were also solid. Looking forward to coming back as many times as I can.

This was my second visit to Basi, and once again, the experience was exceptional. The restaurant has a charming, intimate atmosphere, complemented by a staff that is attentive, welcoming, and clearly committed to creating a memorable dining experience. I enjoyed a fabulous salad, a delicious appetizer, and a light, flavorful pasta entrΓ©e. Each course felt thoughtful and balanced β€” very fresh without feeling heavy β€” with clear attention given to flavor, texture, and presentation. I do not drive downtown for just any dining experience, but this restaurant is absolutely worth the trip. I highly recommend it and will certainly be back.

My husband and I dined here for the first time last week and we can’t wait to come back! We split the arancini appetizer special, grilled lamb chops and gnocchi dish. Not pictured is the caramel crΓ¨me brΓ»lΓ©e that we also had. We sat at the patio bar and had great service in addition to the wonderful drinks incredible food!

Tonight was my first night trying Basi Italia which was recommended by a friend. Our party started first with the Zucchini Pronto and smoked salmon bruschetta as our insalata choice. I ordered a non-alcoholic Spritz paired with the tender Grilled Lamb Chops as my entrΓ©e and finishing the night with the delicious Vanilla CrΓ¨me Cannolis for my dessert. The food and service was sensational πŸ”₯
